Launch of ‘Holly and the Little Lost Octopus’ at the Alresford Show 2025

What a fantastic day we had launching ‘Holly and the Little Lost Octopus’.  After nearly two years in the making it was finally time to launch the book!!  Thankfully the sun was shining and we woke to a beautiful sunrise, so I knew it was going to be a special day.  My sister was with me, just like the last two years, holding my hand and this year Samantha joined us for her first show! As always there was a fantastic atmosphere already at the show-ground and everyone was looking forward to a wonderful day.  We got all set up and this time had the addition of some wonderful Octopus balloons, made by Samantha which were so eye catching and everyone came to see.  As Samantha disappeared to hide the little octopus around the show ground, Jo my fantastic editor appeared, who has also been there from the start, with some much needed, gorgeous egg and bacon sandwiches.

All set to go, we then waited for some customers and as soon as they started to arrive the rest of the day turned into a bit of a blur!!

The headbands of Wiggles collecting rubbish were very popular and had all gone by just after lunch.  I’ve made a mental note to bring more next year!  Nats and Samantha were great with the children and helping them with their colouring and telling them all about the story and what Wiggles was doing.

Lovely customers were arriving who had bought my first book ‘My Special Place’ in the hope that there was a second one and were excited to find that there was!

I had new customers and then also people with no one to buy the book for but wanted cards and the calendar and the puzzles.  They were very popular this year.

And then children started appearing, pushing their way to the front, with such excitement at what they had found and that they had then found me!  Four little Wiggles were found and all the children got a new book.  I have had lovely messages on my instagram page of how much they have enjoyed the story!

By the end of the day we were exhausted but elated and so happy with the interactions and experiences we had had through the day.

Lots of people have asked what the next book is going to be about and I am working on it already but first I am looking forward to more fairs and school visits and being able to share ‘Holly and the Little Lost Octopus’ with lots more people.
